What are Fraternal Benefits Events?

These are presentations showcasing the benefits of the insurance program offered by the Knight of Columbus Gerneral Agents. The Agency Department offers much more then insurance. Throughout the fraternal year, online webinars will be offered on various topics. Councils are required to have members attend a certain number of these to qualify for the Founders Award and the Star Council Award.

Form 185 - List of Officers Chosen - assigns members to council offices. This form, whether completed on paper or through the Council Administration section of Member Management, informs Supreme Council who the officers are for the current term. This form needs to complete each year with the election of council officers. The offices reset to blank on July 1 of no form 185 is on file. Completion of this form is necessary to be compliant for Safe Environment as the Grand Knight need to complete the necessary training. Without being assigned via the Form 185, the GK will not have access to Member Management, and not receive any email updates intended for him.

Form 365 - Service Program Personnel - assigned members to key program director and chairman positions for the council. Just like form 185, this information resets on July 1 each year. Completion of the form also triggers Safe Environment training for the Program Director, Family Director, and Community Director. The following FIVE (5) POSITIONS ARE REQUIRED in order for the form to be accepted as complete: Program Director, Family Director, Community Director, Membership Director, and Retention Chairman.

We as the state council have set up email addresses for councils and assemblies to send copies of the forms to the State.

What is Safe Environment Compliance?

The Knights of Columbus has established the Office of Youth Protection to provide training to members to identify and report abuse of venerable persons. Who needs to be compliant?

ALL Councils are to be safe environment compliant regardless of conducting youth related programs or not. The council Grand Knight, Program Director, Family Director, and Community Director are REQUIRED to take the training. A link to create an account and take training is emailed to the required members upon appointment. The appointment comes from completing the form 365 or by selecting the program personnel for the council via Member Management. 

The training is not just for those required members; ALL members are encouraged to take the training offered. Records of the training should be kept and available. It is also encouraged that council members take any training specified by the parish or diocese. 

How do I check if the council is compliant?
This happens to be a report found in Officers Online. The Grand Knight and Financial Secretary for the council have access to it. The one shown below with the arrows shows the most detail for your council. District Deputies, State Directors & Chairmen, and State Officers have access to this report also.

Pennsylvania State Council bills twice per year for per capita assessments. The billings are July - the beginning of the fraternal year, and January - the midpoint of the year. The number of billable members for each council is calculated Total Members minus Honorary Life & Exempt, based on the council roster from Supreme Council.

July 2024        January 2025

Invoices are sent to the Financial Secretary on record according to Supreme Council prior to the 1st of July and January. Starting July 2024, in addition to a mailing that was sent, invoices were sent via email using QuickBooks. This is a prime reason for a Financial Secretary to have a valid email address.

Payments by check are to be mailed to the State Secretary.

Note: Per capita rate increased from $2.47 to $4.05 as of July 1, 2024. The increase is from an automatic 3% increase plus a $1.50 increase from a resolution passed at the state convention in April 2024. Going forward, the per capita will increase 5% annually each July billing period.

Supreme Council no longer mails bills to local councils. The Financial Secretary for the council needs to have access to Officers Online, Member Management, and Member Billing through the kofc.org website. Council bills are updated and published monthly.

Paying your council’s Supreme Council Assessments
Your council statements are available through the Order’s website www.kofc.org in the Reports tab in Officers Online and can be viewed and downloaded by any officer that has access to Officers Online, when viewing council data. The following council officers have access to Officers Online: grand knights, financial secretaries, deputy grand knights, advocates, treasurers, and membership directors.
